Dr Fiona Bosly: Counsellor / Social Worker (PhD; MPhil; BaSocWk)
Fiona has over 15 years clinical experience in working with issues that affect the well-being of individuals. She specialises in domestic and family violence and has worked extensively with individuals, couples and groups in a range of areas. Fiona believes that life provides us with wonderful opportunities to develop and grow and it is these encounters with new knowledge about ourselves that can challenge us.
Fiona has worked in two community agencies and in a mental health setting. While completing her Masters and PhD she also delivered lectures and tutored in an academic setting. She has provided professional supervision to peers and students. She has also designed and delivered group programs with an emphasis on self-care and communication skills.
Fiona specialises in working in a range of issues such as:
- Depression and mood disorders
- Drug and alcohol related issues
- Post natal depression
- Loss and grief issues
- Domestic and family violence
- Sexual assault and recovery
- Stress/anxiety/trauma issues
- Anger management
- Work-place issues that affect health and well-being
- Clinical supervision
Fiona uses a range of interventions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Couples and Family Therapy. Therapy includes psycho-education, skills training, relaxation training, and mindfulness. Fiona works with the client’s spiritual perspective.
Fiona is a member of AASW and is an accredited Mental Health Practitioner
Medicare rebates are available in conjunction with the client’s general practitioner’s care plan for mental health issues.
